District Agricultural Meteorological Units: DAMU units (KVK Haveri and Bagalkote)

District Agro-Meteorological Unit (DAMU) is an ambitious project of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India under Gramina Krishi Mausam Seva (GKMS) scheme. Agromet Advisory Service bulletins are prepared and disseminated to the farmers regularly in both English and Kannada languages and uploaded in the decision support system (DSS) portal.

Under DAMU programme, KVK Haveri and Bagalkote created 27 WhatsApp groups covering 502 villages benefiting 8000 farmers and published 10 popular articles, 4 leaflets and MEGHSANDESH news letter, and trying to create awareness among farmers about climate change, monsoon vagaries, their effect on crop growth and development and helping in taking precautions/preventive measures to control pest and disease well before their severity.
